KUALA LUMPUR: The government has reached 98.8% of its goal to construct 500,000 affordable homes under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister admitted that, under the 12MP, the targets were ambitious and the implementation was weak. However, it is being prioritised under the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
“As of 30 June 2025, the number of approved units based on the initial plan is 197,311.
“We’ve added 217,371 units, and those that are currently under construction stood at 79,192 units.
“So the total number of units at various stages of implementation is 493,874, which is 98.8% of the target.
“The remaining 6,126 units can be completed,” he told Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim (PN-Kuala Terengganu) during the Prime Minister’s Question Time.
Ahmad Amzad had asked the Prime Minister to state the latest number of affordable homes that have been completed under the 12MP, and what percentage of the target has been achieved so far.
