LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima’s beloved mascot “Beanie” has gone digital — and he’s asking for your help.
In a creative new campaign, the City of Lima has launched a virtual version of Beanie inside a 1980s-style video game, designed to educate residents about local property maintenance codes. Each week, residents can follow Beanie’s adventures in the “Property Maintenance Game” as he navigates common neighborhood issues.
Some of the top violations Beanie will encounter include overgrown grass, leaky gutters, and missing or improper house numbers.
“Beanie is going to go throughout our neighborhoods, and he’s going to help us avoid some of the common property maintenance violations that we see so that we can make sure that our neighborhoods are clean, safe and well maintained,” said Jessica Begonia, Public Information Officer for the City of Lima.
Some of the top violations Beanie will encounter include overgrown grass, leaky gutters, and missing or improper house numbers.
City officials hope the campaign’s nostalgic video game aesthetic will encourage residents to engage online and better understand their responsibilities when it comes to maintaining their property.
