The business community has not agreed with many of the policies of the Albanese government. But consensus on the second day of the Financial Review Property Summit was that federal Labor has shown national leadership by seeking to tackle Australia’s housing affordability challenge by increasing the supply of new homes.
Labor’s $43 billion housing agenda – which includes initiatives to build more social housing, fast-track development approval times, and cut red tape by pausing the National Construction Code – was welcomed by industry experts and leaders for rightly attacking the nation’s housing problem on the supply side.
