(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) After many residents voiced their concerns over “unsafe living conditions”, property management over the Gene Field Apartments has responded to growing concerns.
DW Development who currently manages the property has been at the forefront of these issues, as many residents have been blaming them for not doing enough to fix the living conditions.
After reaching out to DW Development, KQ2 was sent a statement by the property management addressing the concerns.
In a statement, DW Development said “Since purchasing Gene Field Apartments in 2021, our team has been actively working to address maintenance concerns and improve the living environment for residents.
“Over the past several months, we have dedicated additional resources to ensure resident needs are met, including:
- Completing urgent repairs for pluming, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Increasing on-site maintenance support to improve response times
- Launching a dedicated maintenance line and improving communication with residents
- Continuing regular inspections to proactively identify and resolve potential concerns
DW Development would continue saying “Our long-term vision remains to fully renovate Gene Field Apartments into a modern, high-quality community. This effort depends on securing a competitive 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) award from the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC).”
“We are grateful for the City of St. Joseph’s support and are working closely with city leaders, state agencies, and residents to secure the necessary resources for this transformation. Gene Field Apartments is an important part of the St. Joseph community, and our team is fully committed to its future. We take residents’ concerns seriously, we have addressed the issues raised, and we will continue investing in this community to ensure safe, quality, and affordable housing.”
