Family Promise of Spokane will open a new playscape for homeless children, funded by a major donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
SPOKANE, Wash. — Family Promise of Spokane (FPS) is opening a brand new playscape for children experiencing homelessness.
FPS says The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave them a “major donation” for the playscape.
The National Recreation and Park Association says the new playscape will be a welcoming environment for the children staying at Family Promise.
“Children today spend less time outdoors than any other generation,” said the National Recreation and Park Association
There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Family Promise’s shelter (2002 E. Mission Ave) on Friday, Sept. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to support Family Promise of Spokane in creating a safe and joyful place for children to play,” said President Brent Byers of the Spokane East Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe every child deserves to feel loved, secure, and hopeful about the future. Partnering with Family Promise allows us to serve families in need and strengthen our community together.”
