Camana Bay has been chosen as one of six projects in the region as a finalist for the 2025 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Southeast Florida/Caribbean Vision Awards – Project of the Year, an award that recognises excellence in design, planning and impact.
First opened in 2007, Camana Bay is Dart’s flagship mixed-use, master-planned community that spans 685 acres along Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach corridor. Its Town Centre integrates residential, commercial, educational and recreational spaces, while its design prioritises walkability, sustainability and a strong Caribbean sense of identity.
“We are honoured that Camana Bay has been named a finalist for the ULI Vision Awards,” said Gary Gibbs, executive vice president, development at Dart. “From the outset, Camana Bay was envisioned as more than a development; it was designed to be a dynamic community that brings people together in one holistic environment of living, working and enjoying free time.”
According to the Urban Land Institute Vision Awards brochure, “Camana Bay exemplifies long-term vision and placemaking rooted in regional identity” and is described as “a thriving hub for commerce, culture and everyday life”.
Gibbs said, “Being recognised by ULI, one of the most respected voices in global land use and urban development, affirms the value of our long-term vision and approach to placemaking rooted in local culture and sense of place.”
Camana Bay is widely recognised for its human-centred design, robust community programming and positive economic impact on the Cayman Islands. Developed by Dart, the still-expanding town represents a commitment to sustainability, inclusivity and future-focused urban planning, all of which align with the ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact.
All nominees for the award must be located within Southeast Florida (Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee Counties) or in the Caribbean. Last year’s winner of the Project of the Year was CityPlace Redevelopment Phase 1, located in Downtown West Palm Beach.
This year’s winners of the ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean Vision Awards will be announced on 20 Nov.
