SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the Department of Community Development will celebrate the city’s achievements made possible with the $24,200,000 CHOICE Neighborhood Grant Initiative on Wednesday, September 10 at 3 p.m.
The meeting will be held at Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Engine Room and will include city officials, partners, and friends who worked tirelessly to see the initiative to fruition.
“This grand work that has transformed the life of our city would never have come to fruition without the relentless efforts of former director Bonnie Moore,” said Verni Howard, the current director of the Department of Community Development. “While so many were instrumental in seeing this work to completion, this magnificent project was the work of Bonnie and today we honor her dedication and commitment to a city that she loves.”
The final CHOICE advisory board meeting will showcase Bayou Grande and several other projects completed because of a $24,200,000 grant awarded to the city by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“This type of transformative community is what our city needs to meet the housing demand of families in Shreveport. The public-private partnerships that allowed a revitalization of this magnitude is the type of unity that we need to continue thereby transforming our neighborhoods block by block,” stated Mayor Arceneaux.
The meeting is open to the public; however, seating is limited. You may RSVP to attend by calling 318-673-5900.
